Baroque musicology and contemporary ethnomusicology from South America and Cuba

The vibrant seventeenth century music of countries such as Bolivia, Peru and Mexico exists in manuscript form and continues to be made available in transcriptions. Many church and cathedral archives (such as those in Sucre, Lima, and Quito) possess magnificent choir books, some containing polyphony by Hispanic masters such as Guerrero and Victoria. We also continue to research contemporary music practices in countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, and Peru.
